Ai, in Israel, is east of Bethel. Abraham pitched his tent between Ai and Bethel when he arrived in Canaan (Genesis 12: 8). Ai was the second Canaanite city conquered by the Israelites when they entered the Promised Land. At first they lost because of Achan's sin, then won (Joshua 7--8). Et Tell is the ruins of Ai. Other Scriptures related to Ai -- 1 Chronicles 7: 28, Isaiah 10: 28. Ai is called Aiath in the Revised Standard Version. Sheaves of grain are ready for harvest near Ai.
