After Terah's death, Abram left here for Canaan (Genesis 12 1). Later Abraham sent his servant Eliezer here to find a bride for Isaac (Genesis 24 2). He met Rebekah at a well near Haran. Jacob came here to find his bride, married Rachel and Leah, and worked for his uncle Laban here for twenty years.
