The town of Alasehir near ancient Philadelphia, Turkey, one of the Seven Churches to whom Revelation was addressed (Revelation 3:7-13). The name means brotherly love, and was named for Attalus II Philadelphus (159-138 BC) because of his great love for his brother Eumenes.
