Aijalon, or Ajalon, is in the Valley of Aijalon in Israel, fourteen miles from Jerusalem. The modern name for the town is Yalo. Ruins of the ancient city are called Tell el-Qoq'a. One ancient name is Aialuna. It was in this valley that Joshua commanded the sun to stand still so he could complete a battle (Joshua 10: 12). This was in the territory of Dan (Joshua 19: 42), and was a Levitical city (Joshua 21: 24). Sunset over the Valley of Aijalon.
