Acre or Accho, a seaport eight miles north of Mount Carmel. Acre is the English name. In New Testament times it was known as Ptolemais. Paul stayed here a day with friends (Acts 21: 7). Today the modern city of Haifa is nearby. Modern lighthouse at Acre.
