As an act of pride, King David forced Joab to take a census of men of military age. The Lord was displeased with David for this and sent a great plague. The angel of death stopped at the threshing floor of Araunah. David bought this threshing floor and offered a sacrifice to the Lord there. Later the Temple was built at this place, the same place where Abraham almost sacrificed Isaac (2 Samuel 24).
