There were two similar offerings, the heave offering and the wave offering. This picture illustrates the wave offering, where the priest lifted up the hands of the owner of the meat, waving it before the Lord. The priest kept some pieces of meat for himself, and during the ceremony, would heave these toward the Lord as an offering.
